Tom W. Blarney graduated from the Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. Blaney served as nurse in the United States Army from 1966-1968, including a tour of duty at the 8th Field Hospital, Nha Trang, Vietnam. He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in business from Heidelberg College in 1972. Throughout the 1970s Blaney worked in diverse nursing roles at facilities in Ohio and other states. In 1980 he joined the Nursing Home Training Center at the North Central Technical College in Mansfield, Ohio. After retiring in 2001 Blaney was still active as an instructor in a variety of subjects.
