Janice K. Rawlings Lanier (1945-) received a diploma from the St. John’s Hospital School of Nursing and continued her nursing education at The Ohio State University College of Nursing but decided to get a degree in political science instead. Working in policy roles she felt there was need for the voice of registered nurse in the Ohio Statehouse. In 1994 Lanier obtained her juris doctorate from Ohio State then founded her own health policy administration lobbying firm. Lanier’s nursing and political experience led to roles at the Ohio Board of Nursing and the Ohio Nurses Association.
