Ann E. Moats Schiele (1939-) graduated from the St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio, and worked at a Toledo hospital that served low income and uninsured patients. Then she moved to Columbus where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University. A course in community health nursing introduced her to Mt. Carmel Hospital, another hospital committed to serving less fortunate patients, where she worked in a variety of roles, particularly the Mt. Carmel School of Nursing. Schiele pursued both her master’s and doctorate degrees in nursing from Ohio State and was part of transitioning Mt. Carmel’s School of Nursing to a College of Nursing in the 1980s. After retiring from the Mt. Carmel Health System, she took the position of chief strategy office for the Lower Lights Christian Health Center in the Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus.

The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services, which must be performed by staff.
