Karen Ford Lane (1946-) graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1969. She worked for University Hospital and the Columbus Public School System before pursuing her master’s degree in health education. After finishing this degree Lane was hired as a school health nursing consultant at the Ohio Department of Health. In 1977 she was promoted to the position of Child Health Unit Supervision. Then in 1979 Lane became the chief nurse in the Bureau of Crippled Children’s Services, now the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps. She held this position for 22 years, retiring in 2001. Lane was active in professional organizations at the state and national level.
The Karen Lane Oral History (0.25 linear foot) contains an oral history interview conducted with Lane on November 19, 2014, accompanied by her resume and program for the Outstanding Senior Volunteer Awards.
The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services, which must be performed by staff.
