Carole Ann Irving Anderson (1938-2023) attended the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Evanston, Illinois. She worked and went to college and eventually completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and PhD at the University of Colorado. Anderson became the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Seeking a dean’s role, she came to Columbus and became the first permanent dean of The Ohio State University College of Nursing. Anderson rose to Vice Provost at Ohio State, then was asked to serve as dean of the College of Dentistry. After five years in this role, she resigned in 2011 and fully retired after additional time working in the Vice Provost’s office.

The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised reading room.
