Mary Ann Bradford Burnam graduated from The Ohio State University School of Nursing in 1967. After graduation she worked as a staff nurse at Kettering Hospital in Kettering, Ohio. Burnam returned to Ohio State to earn her master’s degree in education with a focus on medical and surgical nursing. She joined the Ohio State faculty; then in 1977 was invited to join the faculty of a new nursing program at Otterbein University. Burnam earned her PhD in 1998. She served Otterbein for 34 years becoming a professor emeritus in 2011.
