Biography
Carol Halsted Robinson graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1961. She spent two years on campus and two years doing clinical work at Yale-New Haven Medical Center. In her first position as an RN at St. Luke’s hospital she was involved in developing the intensive care unit and became its Assistant Head Nurse. She began working on her master’s degree at Columbia University, then transferred to The Ohio State University where she completed the degree in 1964. Robinson taught at The Ohio State University School (now College) of Nursing, White Cross Hospital School Nursing, and Ohio Wesleyan University School of Nursing. While teaching she volunteered at the university hospital to keep her clinical skills current. After teaching, Robinson became the director of an adult day care and education facility, one of the first in central Ohio. Then she was recruited by the Elizabeth Blackwell Women’s Health Center where she practiced for 14 years as a clinical nurse specialist.

Restrictions on Access
The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical
Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised
reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be
too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services,
which must be performed by staff.
