C. Sue Donovan Mooney graduated from The Ohio State University School (now College) of Nursing in 1965. Her first job was at the Columbus Department of Health as a public health nurse serving families in the Victorian Village neighborhood. She left the Health Department in 1967 to be with her young children but continued to use her nursing skills in mostly volunteer roles, including teacher/nurse for her church’s preschool, assisting school nurses, and helping to provide physicals for high school athletes. As the volunteer coordinator for Overbrook Presbyterian Church, she saw the need for a parish nurse to visit members of the congregation. Mooney was a ‘pioneer’ of the Parish Nurse, now known as Faith Community Nurse, program.
The C. Sue Donovan Mooney Oral History (0.5 linear foot) contains copies of an oral history interview conducted with Mooney on July 2, 2009, accompanied by an article, book, news clippings and awards.
The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services, which must be performed by staff.
