Mary Beth Mathews earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Cornell (NYC), her master’s degree from the University of Washington, and her PhD from The Ohio State University. During her nursing career she worked in the states of Arizona, Connecticut, Washington, Pennsylvania, Hawaii and Massachusetts before moving to Columbus, Ohio, in 1978. Mathews was active in both the Mid-Ohio District Nursing Association and the Ohio Nursing Association (ONA). She served as the secretary of the Board of Directors for ONA and two terms as the organization’s president.

The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services, which must be performed by staff.
