            <head>Biography</head>
            <p>Ronald B. Berggren, MD (1931-2022) was from Staten Island, New York. He attended Johns Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After finishing residencies in both general and plastic surgery, Berggren came to The Ohio State University in 1965 to serve as the director of the Division of Plastic Surgery. He also served in this capacity at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and was an honorary staff member at Riverside Methodist Hospital, both in Columbus, Ohio.</p> 
            <p>George W. Paulson, MD (1930-2019) was a native of North Carolina and attended Yale University and Duke University, though he spent most of his medical career in Ohio. In 1967 he joined the emerging neurology division at The Ohio State University. In 1971 he became Program Director of Neurology at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, then returned to Ohio State in 1983 to become the founding chair of Ohio State’s Department of Neurology. Prior to retiring in 1989 he served as the chief of staff. He was noted for his work in treating movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease. In retirement Dr. Paulson was a scholar in residence at Ohio State’s Medical Heritage Center where he researched and wrote about medical history.</p>

            <head>Scope and Content</head>
            <p>The Ronald B. Berggren, MD Papers (0.5 linear feet) are research files compiled when Ronald B. Berggren, MD and George W. Paulson, MD wrote an article together about what is generally known as the ‘Practice Plan.’ Physicians practicing at The Ohio State University Medical Center formed Ohio State University Physicians, Inc., a not-for-profit medical practice that is the University Board of Trustees approved practice plan for The Ohio State University College of Medicine.</p>

            <p>The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical
                Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised
                reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be
                too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services,
                which must be performed by staff.
