Biography
Verne Adams Dodd (1881-1957) received his MD in 1903 from Ohio Medical University where he served as a professor until 1907. He then taught at the Starling-Ohio Medical College until 1914. After Starling-Loving became part of the University Hospitals, he served as chief of staff there, from 1921 to 1948. That year, the University awarded him an honorary doctorate at the June commencement ceremony. He retired from the university in 1951 and died in 1957.
Dodd Hall was built in 1961, originally carrying the name Ohio Rehabilitation Center. Two years later the official name was changed to Dodd Hall after Verne A. Dodd, a long-time surgeon at the hospital. A $3.3 million that added third and fourth floors was built in stages beginning in 1967 and was fully completed in 1971. Dodd Hall is the location of The Ohio State University Medical Center's Inpatient Rehabilitation Services, a 60-bed inpatient facility providing comprehensive rehabilitation programming for the region.

The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical
Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised
reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be
too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services,
which must be performed by staff.
