Clara Noll Zag graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. She worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital where she met her husband. She took eight years off to have and raise her children, and then in 1975 she accepted a part time position as evening staff nurse at Monterey Yorkshire Nursing Home. This afforded her the opportunity to care for her children, engage in nursing and bring needed income into the family. In 1981 she went to work on a medical surgical unit at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. She worked in various positions with the Mt. Carmel Health System for 25 years before retiring in 2006.
Zag was not ready to retire from nursing though, so she took on a part time job working at Molina Health Care to do pre-certification of patients and project work. At age 70 she decided to finally retire for good to become a caregiver for her husband.
