Walter C. Buchsieb, DDS, MS was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He remained in Columbus after high school and attained his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University. He completed dental school at The Ohio State University. After dental school, he completed a one year internship at the Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco, California. Following this internship, he held the position of Director of Dental Services at the 539th Dental Dispensary in Zweibrucken, Germany. He returned to the United States and completed orthodontic training at The Ohio State University in 1968.
After spending 25 years in private practice, Buchsieb returned to Ohio State University as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthodontics. Before achieving this position, he had previously held the positions of President of the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists from 1968-1978 and Speaker of the House of the American Association of Orthodontists from 1983-1985. In 1981 he was President of the Ohio Dental Association. He also held the position of President of the College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Throughout Buchsieb's career he has received a number of awards including the James A. Brophy Distinguished Service Award and membership in the Pierre Fouchard Academy, Who's Who in America, the International College of Dentists, and the American College of Dentists as President of the Ohio section. Buchsieb held the position of Clinic Director of the Orthodontic Clinic at The Ohio State University from 1993 to 1998.
