Judith Westman, MD, professor emeritus in the Division of Human Genetics at Ohio State, received her medical degree from the Ohio State University. She completed a residency in pediatrics, chief residency in pediatrics, and fellowship in clinical genetics at Children's Hospital and the Ohio State University. She received a Master's degree in molecular genetics from OSU as well. After spending 9 years in pediatric clinical genetics, she joined the James Cancer Hospital in 1996 and developed the Clinical Cancer Genetics program. She also served as Associate Dean for the OSU College of Medicine in the area of Medical Education Administration for 12 years with responsibilities for curriculum revision and administration of the preclinical portion of the medical student curriculum. In July 2008, she returned to genetics full time as the Clinical Director of the Division of Human Genetics at Ohio State.
Westman continues to play a role in medical education as a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the committee responsible for Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination and has received two teaching awards for her teaching of the first year medical students.
