Biography
Kathryn Mercedes Pearce Clausen (June 17, 1941–2024) was born in Dayton, Ohio. She received three degrees from The Ohio State University: B.A. in German (1962); M.D. (1966); and, M.S. in Pathology (1968).
After a residency and two fellowships, Clausen was hired as an Assistant Professor of Pathology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine (1970 – 1975). She became an Associate Professor in 1975 and a Professor in 1982. She also served as chief of staff of University Hospitals, Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology, and Associate Dean for Medical Education.
In 1995, Clausen began a vocation in ministry. She graduated from the School for the Diaconate in 1998. She graduated from the Bexley Hall program for Anglican Studies at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus in 2001 and was ordained priest that year. She was the Priest in Charge at churches in Newark, London, Zanesville, and Gambier. She retired from the ministry in 2022.
Clausen married her husband William in 1964 and they had two children, David and Carol.

Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised
reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be

which must be performed by staff.
