Carol J. Fair Keith (December 30, 1925 – July 17, 2014) graduated in 1946 from the Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, Ohio. She worked as an Assistant Head Nurse and Head Nurse in the Recovery Room and Surgical Unit at Aultman from 1946 to 1951. From 1951 to 1953, Keith was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. In 1954, she was a staff nurse as San Jose Community Hospital. Keith graduated from San Jose State College with a BA in Nursing Education in 1956. Also in 1956, she was a staff nurse at Pomerene Memorial Hospital. From 1956-1958, Keith worked as a part-time staff surgical nurse at The Ohio State University Hospitals. She graduated with a MS from Ohio State in 1958. From 1958-1965, Keith worked as an Instructor for Fundamentals and Surgical Nursing in the Ohio State University School of Nursing. From 1965-1985, Keith worked as an Assistant Professor of sophomore and junior level nursing also at Ohio State.
