            <head>Biography</head>
            <p>David H. Rowe was born in the United States in 1861 to Sarah and William Rowe. He received his medical degree in 1892 and was a well-respected practitioner in Fayette County, Ohio. He died in October of 1927.</p>

            <head>Scope and Content</head>
            <p>The David H. Rowe, MD Papers (approximately 3 linear feet) contains a variety of records relating to Rowe’s life and medical practice. Included are photographs, diplomas and certificates, and an obituary newspaper tribute.</p>
            <p>Of particular interest are the collection’s patient ledgers, which detail the services rendered by and costs charged by a physician in the area in the 1920s.</p>

            <p>This collection is arranged in three series:

                    <item>Series III: Patient Ledgers</item>

            <p>Series I: Photographs (1 file) includes photos taken of David H. Rowe during various stages of his life. Also included in the series is a group photo picturing Rowe in a crowd of an unidentified organization.</p>
            <p>Series II: Oversized Documents (4 items) includes newspaper sections, diplomas, and certificates relating to David H. Rowe. The newspaper section in the collection includes a funeral service tribute to Rowe by Dr. R. Hughey.</p>
            <p>Series III: Patient Ledgers (1 box) includes two volumes of recorded patent accounts from the 1920s. The first section of each volume includes an index.</p>

            <head>Restrictions on Access</head>
            <p>The collection is open to the public and is available for viewing in the Medical
                Heritage Center. Materials do not circulate and must be used in the supervised
                reading room. Restrictions, including copyright, may exist and some materials may be
                too fragile to photocopy or digitize. The MHC charges for duplication services,
                which must be performed by staff.
