Biographical Note

Jane Scott (married name Jane Butler) is a businesswoman in Columbus, Ohio. In the early 1970s, Scott attended The Ohio State University, graduating with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural economics specializing in journalism. In 1975, she started working for Countrymark, Inc., managing their public relations. Scott and her husband, Bill Butler, later bought Wyandotte Wine Cellars in 1985. In 1990, Scott left Countrymark, Inc. and she and Butler opened William Graystone Winery.

In the early 1990s, Scott served as a chairperson of the New World Monument Foundation. The Foundation sought to gain public and financial support to acquire, transport, and erect a statue of Christopher Columbus by Georgian-Russian sculptor Zurab Tseretelli in Columbus, Ohio. They were unable to gain the support needed, though, and did not acquire the statue for the city.

In 2003, Scott became the president and CEO of the Columbus Metropolitan Club. She and Butler sold William Graystone Winery in 2003 and Wyandotte Wine Cellars in 2006. Scott retired from the Columbus Metropolitan Club in May 2023. As of 2024, she serves on the board of directors of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.
