 Biographical Note

Thomas Siebert Crane was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1922. He graduated from North High School in 1940 and attended The Ohio State University. His education was interrupted by World War II and he served in England and France from 1942 to 1946. He returned to Ohio State and completed his art degree. After graduation he spent a short time in New York City working undering the artist, Walt Kuhn. In 1951 he returned to Columbus and met and married his wife, Barbara Jonas. He settled in Worthington, Ohio and had four sons while enjoying a long career as professional illustrator and commerical artist. He the longtime head of the Chart and Graph service at Ohio State and taught drawing in the School of Architecture. Crane passed away at age 94 on May 13, 2017.

 Scope and Contents

The collection is made up of booklets, pamphlets, clippings, proofs, sketches, and original art by Columbus, Ohio artist, Thomas Crane from organizations such as Ohio State University, Ohio Hardware Association, Nationwide Insurance, Huntington National Bank, Kuenning, and WBNS.
