            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Leonard Starr was a cartoonist, comic book artist, and advertising artist best known for the newspaper comic strip On Stage and for reviving the comic Little Orphan Annie. He was born on October 28, 1925 in New York City, New York and studied at Pratt Institute. He contributed to early comics at Funnies Inc. before continuing on to do early work forTimely/Marvel comics including Human Torch and Sub-Mariner. He created the comic strip Mary Perkins, On Stage, later abbreviated to On Stage, in 1957 for the Chicago-Tribune-New York News Syndicate. Starr later revived the comic Little Orphan Annie, renamed Annie, in 1979 and continued to create original work for the comic strip until his retirement in 2000. He died on June 30, 2015.</p>
