This collection contains materials from American cartoonist, illustrator, artist, and writer Rose O'Neill. Best known for creating the popular comic strip Kewpies, O'Neill was the first published female cartoonist in the United States. Her famous creation, Kewpies, were originally published in 1909 in Ladies' Home Journal and were later manufactured as bisque dolls. These dolls are considered one of the first mass-marketed and popular toys of the twentieth century in the United States. Today, many of these dolls are sought after antique materials.

This collection contains tear sheets and clip art of the comic strip characters, Kewpies, created by Rose O'Neill. These materials range in date from 1912 to 1928 and feature the famous cherubic characters created by O'Neill that gained popularity in the early twentieth century.
