Casson is best known for creating the comic strips Angel, Redeye, Mixed Singles/Boomer, and Sparky. This collection includes personal correspondence, newspaper and magazine articles, tearsheets, proofs, original sketches, slides, and photographs from his personal collection.  Biographical Note

Mel Casson was an American cartoonist best known for the comic strips Angel, Redeye, Sparky, and Mixed Singles/Boomer. Mel Cassons' work has been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers includidng Esquire, The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies' Home Journal, and The New York Times. Casson also published 5 volumes of cartoon art and his work has been twice exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This collection contains the papers and original art of American cartoonist, Mel Casson. The collection includes sketches, tearsheets, proofs, newspaper and magazine articles, correspondence, and family cards.Visual materials contained within the collection include photographs of Mel Casson and other cartoonists and slides from original cartoons. Cartoon memorabilia items are also included and range from cartoon booklets to original Angel dolls.
