        <bioghist id="ref20">
            <head>Biographical Note</head>
            <p>Jeff Keate was born in Canada in 1912. Keate was raised in British Columbia, and attended college first in Grand Rapids, MI, followed by the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, class of 1936. He relocated to NYC in 1945, which is where his cartooning career really took off–averaging 20 magazine cartoons per week. His gag cartoons were published in magazines such as, "Esquire," "Colliers," "The Saturday Evening Post," "Cracked," "Humorama," and many other publications. His feature "Time Out" which was sports-related gag cartoons ran for the Publishers Syndicate.</p>
