Ford Button (1924-1995) was a cartoonist from the Westboro area of Pennsylvania. From sixth grade until his graduation from Mansfield University, Button lived in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. His cartoons have been used in publications such as
The Ford Button Papers (FBC) are divided into five different series. The first series contains Ford Button's original art. The subject of these cartoons varies, however the bulk pertain to school-related issues. The cartoons are mostly undated. The art contains Button's creative notes/personal selling codes. Clippings are of Button's and Bob Barnes' work are included. Within the correspondence are letters between Ford and various publishers. The majority of correspondence deals with the buying and selling of Button's work. Also within this collection are promotional items such as pamphlets and newsletters. Several books have been separated and are cataloged in The Ohio State University library

Original Art contains sketches and finished pieces on a variety of topics. Some pieces are bundled with receipts of sale or other forms of correspondence, while other sketches might be bundled with finished pieces, clippings, or copies of finished pieces. Most of Button's work can be divided into two subject categories: Education and Miscellaneous. The cartoons under the Education heading deal with various school related issues and gags, while those under the Miscellaneous title cannot fit easily into one category. Other categories within Series 1 are: Animals, Kids and Adults, Kids, Homeless/Unemployed, Office/Hiring Gags, Psychiatry, Doctor/Medical, Art/Artistry, and art used in various publications.

The Correspondence series contains letters to and from Ford Button to publishers regarding the buying and selling of his work. In almost all cases, these letters have receipts for sale and payment addressed to Button. Additionally, these letters are generally bundled with the cartoon originals they are referencing. Most other items within this series are letters requesting permission to reproduce Button's work, suggestions for future cartooning endeavors, and general correspondence. There is a separate section in this series that contains correspondence between Button and his mentor, Bob Barnes. Most of the items within this section are letters from Button asking for criticism and Barnes detailing improvements he might make to his cartoons.
The Clippings series contains clippings of Button's work from various magazine publications, newspapers and textbooks. They are divided into several different categories: Coffee Breaks, The Instructor (Last Laugh and After School), The Cortlandt Forum, The Curriculum Review, Phi Delta Kappan, The School Administrator, and Miscellaneous. Again, there is a separate section which contains clippings of his mentor, Bob Barnes' work. There is also a section containing biographical information on Ford Button.
The Promotional Items series contains several newsletters for different educational and health related organizations. Also within this series are pamphlets for school workshops and school board meetings.
The Assorted Works series contains photocopies of Button's work. Within this section there are copies of his original art, copies of clippings, and copies of journal and textbook pages. They are not separated by subject.
