Information literacy is about more than being able to use a database or cite a source. It also incorporates critical consideration of the systems by which information is created, accessed, disseminated, used and valued. This includes a recognition that not everyone has the same ability to access information nor the same ability to make their voices heard. This workshop focuses on understanding information literacy within the context of equity and social justice. Participants will leave with ideas for how they can support students abilities to approach information with a critical, justice-oriented mindset.
