  • This illustration shows two penguins in the foreground and two men in the background standing by one of the planes from the Byrd expedition. The penguins are surprised that the Admiral spells his name with a Y. On the back, it is written in pencil: "Presented to Mrs. Richard E. Byrd, Sr., at the Commissioning of the Guided Missile Destroyer USS Richard E. Byrd (DDG-23) in Seattle, Washington, March 7. 1964."
