  • Note: A couple is searching the sky for the exact position of the planet Leverrier, which corresponded to Neptune. The astronomer Urbain Jean Joseph Le Verrier mathematically proved the existence of another planet close to Uranus. Ten months after the publication of this print, on September 23, 1847, the German astronomer Galle found the planet Neptune at the exact position calculated by Le Verrier. This finding was the most important astronomical event of the 19th century.
