Manuscript cookbooks are handwritten compilations of recipes, often taken from relatives, friends, or published cookbooks and other print sources. In addition to recipes, the creators of these books also sometimes recorded information about managing a household.

The manuscript cookbooks in this digital collection range from the 18th century to the early 20th century and are in English, Spanish, or French. They are part of RBML’s culinary holdings, which include more than 9,600 cookbooks as well as periodicals, recipe boxes, and ephemera related to cooking and food.
