  • Barbara Nicholson and Draper Hill introduce Ollie Harrington, who gives a speech at the King Arts Complex in Columbus, OH. He recounts his experiences with the American "melting pot", Anti-Semitism, racism, Prohibition, poverty, and incarceration growing up in "the ghetto" outside of NYC and living in Berlin after World War II, and shares a series of anecdotes around Fats Waller, Langston Hughes, and other "ghetto people" he has known, including a Dunkirk war hero named Charlie.

  • Tape cuts out around 32:30, then continues after about 30 seconds of darkness. Tape ends just as Harrington finishes his anecdote about Charlie.
