    Biographical / Historical Note

As of 2018, the International House Learning Community (also referred to as the International House or I-House) is a residence community at Ohio State University. It was established in 1938 for male students, and was housed in the George Wells Knight International House building; initially, it was not connected to the Ohio State University. The building was given to the state for use by the University in 1949. In 1975, the Ninth Floor International Living Project was established on the ninth floor of Jones Graduate Tower, and was open to both males and females. The Knight House was closed in 1983 due to prohibitive costs of renovations.

Residents of I-House are from countries all over the world, giving them the opportunity to increase their cultural understanding and improve their global citizenship through interaction with their housemates and planned activities. For example, as of 2018, students take an annual trip outside of Ohio and participate in the Taste of OSU global festival. Residents must apply and be accepted in order to live in the International House Learning Community.
