Donald Ransom Whitney (1915-2007) enrolled at Ohio State University in 1946, accepting a teaching assistantship. He joined the faculty in the Mathematics Department with a focus on statistics. His collaboration with Henry Mann led to the development of the Mann-Whitney test.
