Abstract
The Lucy Venable Oral History Transcript and Audiocassette Recordings contain a transcript and audio recordings of an oral history conducted August 29, 2002. Interview discussion topics include labanotation and other dance notation systems, the role of the Dance Notation Bureau, and the development of the dance program at Ohio State University. Lucy Venable taught in the Department of Dance at Ohio State University and founded and served as the director for the Dance Notation Bureau Extension for Education and Research.

Biographical / Historical Note
Lucy Venable came to Ohio State University in 1968, where she taught in the Department of Dance. She founded the Dance Notation Bureau Extension for Education and Research and served as its director for 12 years. Venable retired in 1992.
