    Biographical / Historical Note

The Ohio State University Centennial Commission was established in 1971, the end of the University's centennial year. It was formed partly in response to the 1970 student disturbances. The Commission was tasked with re-examining and defining the University's mission, goals, and academic objectives for the next 25 years. It was also charged with identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the campus. The Commission was comprised of 16 members: 3 students, 3 administrators, 2 alumni, and 8 faculty members. The Commission produced the report, "Directions for the Future," in February 1973.
