Ohio State University Archives Subject File: School of Natural Resources

In 1955, Ohio State University established the Natural Resources Institute on campus. In 1968, the name changed to the School of Natural Resources and became a part of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics. The School had five major areas of concentration: Conservation and outdoor education, fisheries and wildlife management, forestry, park and recreation administration, and natural resources development. In 2005, the School became the School of Environment and Natural Resources to reflect its growing research in environmental issues and the biosphere. As of 2017, the School was still under the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences but operating as a separate academic unit.
