The Ohio State University Cooperative Extension Service began to develop its own educational film library in the early 1960's. The Ohio State University, Cooperative Extension Service, Film Library Records contain 16mm motion picture films on agricultural processing, safety, and home economics related topics, dated 1963-1977. The collection also includes magnetic tapes of audio recordings, as well as publications about the film library.

Ohio State University, Cooperative Extension Service, Film Library Records contain 16mm motion picture films produced by John V. Schmidt, the assistant extension editor for television at the Cooperative Extension. Topics of the films include agricultural processing, farm and vehicle safety, and home economics related topics such as personal finance, nutrition, and child development. The films were made with the intention for broadcast by local TV stations. The collection also includes magnetic tapes of audio recordings, as well as publications about the film library. Materials date from 1963 to 1977.

Materials in this collection are available for patron research, but may be used only in the University Archives Reading Room. Audiovisual materials may need a use copy produced before access is allowed.
