The Harry Hershfield Collection contains original cartoon illustrations and self-caricatures by Hershfield and photographic copies of the artist's work. The collection also contains clippings from the Chicago Daily News (1900-1908); newspaper tear sheets from the San Francisco Chronicle; color proofs and newspaper tear sheets relating to the strip Homeless Hector; daily newspaper tear sheets and proofs, color newspaper tear sheets, color broadsheet proofs and 2 dolls relating to Hershfield's strip Abie the Agent; and miscellaneous sports and editorial cartoon clippings. The collection includes original caricatures and their photographic reproductions of Hershfield by other artists. The collection includes numerous photographs of Hershfield from his travels and of Hershfield with celebrities. The collection contains correspondence (1900-1969), miscellaneous programs, newsletters, clippings and awards.
