These wood blocks show how much wood is grown in two areas of Ohio’s state forests, as well as how much wood an average American uses daily.
The smallest block represents the amount of wood grown every two seconds just in Zaleski State Forest—where the lumber for the Thompson Library originated. The largest block represents the amount of wood grown in the entire Ohio state forest system in two seconds. The medium-sized block shows the amount of wood used by an average American every day. It takes all the white oak trees growing in Ohio 4 hours and 36 minutes to re-grow the amount of white oak lumber that was used in the renovation of the Thompson Library.
