Harvested in 1976 from Williams County, Ohio, this tree brought $34,000 to the landowner. Adjusted for inflation, that is the equivalent of over $144,000 today. This unique specimen of a black walnut tree was carefully harvested, shipped, and sliced into veneer for use in a variety of products. The desirability and value of various species of trees vary through time depending on the marketplace. Not all trees have the potential value of this one, but when they do, they can be a savings account in the woods.
