Did you know that a baseball’s core is made of cork? A baseball consists of three parts: a cushioned cork pill at its core, wool and poly/cotton windings in the middle, and a cowhide cover for the exterior. The rubberized cork in the core is harvested from the cork oak (Quercus suber). The bark of this tree is cork, which can be stripped from a living tree every nine years.
