Bike for Wellness and a Cure! Ride for Team Buckeye – OSU University Libraries!
Team Buckeye – OSU University Libraries needs riders, and biking is a great way to achieve wellness goals. Pelotonia 18 has routes for all levels of abilities, 25 miles to 200 miles. If you are new to biking, or haven’t ridden in a while, consider the 25-mile route. There are a lot of local training rides to add incentive to train before Pelotonia weekend, August 3-5, 2018.

Our team also needs volunteers, and cheering on thousands of riders and making them peanut butter sandwiches and gallons of Gatorade is a great way to achieve wellness goals. Please consider volunteering for Pelotonia and joining our peloton. The volunteers make all the difference for riders who are biking many miles to end cancer.  When registering for Pelotonia, please be sure to select “Team Buckeye–OSU University Libraries” under Request to Join a Peloton.

Eating Lunch at Your Desk
Many of us eat lunch at our desk every day. Thanks to Tina Franks for sharing a blog discussing a company that encourages their employees to take lunch away from their workspace. Instead of eating lunch in front of their computer, they had to do the following:

  1. Movement: Get out of the office and walk for 10 minutes.
  2. Autonomy: Decide for themselves when and where they take their break.
  3. Connection: Spend at least a portion of their lunch with another person (preferably someone whose company they enjoy).

Do You Have an Idea for a Wellness Program?
Are you looking for information or a better understanding of a wellness issue? Do you have expertise or connection to an expert who can speak about a wellness issue? Please send ideas, suggestions or expert contact information to a Wellness Innovator (Lila Andersen, Quanetta Batts, Sandra Enimil, Randall McKenzie and Joey Schulte) for consideration.

Share Your Wellness Achievements!
Did you run or walk a 5k? Are you riding with Team Buckeye? Is your unit/department taking wellness walks? We want to hear your wellness stories and congratulate your achievements! Send your story and/or photos to a Wellness Innovator and we’ll share in an upcoming Wellness Wednesday newsletter.
