Submitted by Amanda Folk for Gwen Evans/OhioLINK:  Please save the date of March 6 from 10-11:30 am at Otterbein University for a textbook affordability panel in conjunction with Governor John Kasich’s State of the State address.

The panelists include participants in the OER Grant group that OhioLINK and many of your librarians are supporting, leaders in library-led affordability initiatives at our member libraries, provost and student perspectives, and outside guest Bob Butterfield from UWisconsin Stout, which has being doing “every student” textbook provision under library direction for years. They will speak on the issues surrounding textbook affordability and the ways institutions are addressing them.

More details to follow, but anyone is invited, so please spread this Save the Date as widely as possible (ODHE is working with us on a wide distribution of invitations also). We encourage administrators, library staff, faculty, students, and parents with textbook concerns to attend. There is a Workforce Development panel early in the afternoon of the same day (all at Otterbein) that will likely touch on the role of higher education also.

Special thanks to Tiffany Lipstreu at Otterbein for getting us prime space and time on campus in a very competitive environment!

Best, Gwen Evans
