The Plan: Upgrade to Sierra 2.0 Service Pack 3

Enhancements after Upgrade

Acquisitions

  • Fiscal Close function will have a confirmation message when the process is completed.
  • Sierra SDA will have an indication as to which Fiscal close method is being used.
  • Acquisitions will be enhanced to parse GST when defined appropriately by a vendor in a Serials invoice
  • Acquisitions will be enhanced to parse VAT when defined appropriately by a vendor in a Serials invoice
  • Output Vouchers will send vendor code and foreign currency elements simultaneously

Cataloging

  • Limit option to allow for post-search limiting will be added in Sierra SDA for remote searches
  • Direct indexed searches will display browse list of similar items when “back to browse” is selected in SDA
  • Statistics group limit expanded to 5000
  • Link maintenance will update records on-the-fly

Circulation

  • Library designated status for LIB USE ONLY will return to LIB USE ONLY if the status is changed manually and then cleared (IUG)
  • Some libraries would like to handle damaged materials in the same way that lost items are handled, but need to track them separately from lost items. This functionality will allow for a better workflow for damaged materials.
  • Staff will have the option to be alerted when a patron account will be expiring.
  • Autofill turned off for birthdate fixed field for new patron records.
  • When checking in large number of items, it will be possible to have a running count of checked in items (IUG)
  • It will be possible to use Print Templates to create templates for date due receipts.
  • It will be possible to print out the Course Reserves list in a user-friendly format.
  • When printing a patron’s fines from the patron record Fines tab, it will be possible to show the total amount due as well as individual fines.
  • There will be an option to include an explanation for why a charge was adjusted for patrons. This will be stored in fines history.
  • Days Closed table limit expanded to 5000
  • Agency code limit expanded.

Electronic Resource Management

  • ERM COUNTER 4 Journal Report 1 (JR1) will be supported, along with COUNTER 3.
  • ERM COUNTER 4 Database Reports 1 (DB1) will be included in Usage Analysis mode in ERM.
  • ERM COUNTER 4 Book Report 1 (BR1) will be included in Usage Analysis mode in ERM.
  • ERM COUNTER 4 Book Report 2 (BR2) will be included in Usage Analysis mode in ERM.

INN-Reach

  • A pass-through search from a local WebPac catalog to a central Encore catalog now works.
  • Refinement of the title matching algorithm to provide better matching of bibliographic records with multi-part works.
  • A new web application allowing INN-Reach consortium and member libraries to make more informed acquisitions decisions through a set of collection development reports.
  • Improvements in propagating record changes via Link Maintenance from a local server to the central server.
  • Expand integration of the Automated Self-Check product with INN-Reach circulation transactions.
  • Extends the NCIP Initiator profile to include the optional Pickup Location data element within the ItemRequested message.
  • Enables libraries to better facilitate activities related to shared print management across multiple institutions.

New print template:

  • A new print template for financial payment receipts will be available.

Public Interface

  • It will be possible in WebPAC to renew items when there are outstanding holds on the item, as long as there are also still enough copies available for those holds to be filled

Create Lists

  • Create Lists will allow searches using relative dates
  • Create Lists review files will display number and name when listing review files in various functions.

Issues Resolved after Upgrade

  • Passing searches from our catalog to OhioLINK doesn’t retain defined limits
  • Sorting order of item, checkin, order records in summary view changes when switching between different views
  • Not all Access Providers in ERM records displaying in Global Update ERM
