The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum is proud to host the first two days of the fourth-annual Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC)! This city-wide, four-day festival brings hundreds of cartoonists from across the nation together to celebrate cartoon art at a variety of venues throughout Columbus.

All events are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

On Thursday, catch presentations by NOAH VAN SCIVER on coloring, EMI GENNIS on hand lettering, as well as a spotlight on MICHAEL DEFORGE.

Friday’s features include presentations by CHARLES VESS on fantasy illustration, and a special panel celebrating KOYAMA PRESS featuring ANNIE KOYAMA, DUSTIN HARBIN, KEILER ROBERTS, and JESSICA CAMPBELL!

This year, we’re excited to add a new feature to our participation in CXC: on Friday, September 28th from 11am – 2pm, we will host a book sale of duplicate items from our collection in the lobby! We are accepting both cash and credit.

Also on campus Thursday and Friday are SOL-CON: The Brown + Black Comix Expo, and events at Wexner Center for the Arts, including film screenings and presentations by JIM WOODRING and LYNN JOHNSTON (These two events are free but require tickets which can be reserved in advance). On Thursday and Sunday, be sure to check out the CXC Scholarly Symposium – this year’s theme is “In the Gutter: The Public Work of Comics”!

On Friday from 5 – 7pm, join us for a special reception and award ceremony at the Billy Ireland!

Visitors will get to peruse an open-house display of materials selected by the Billy Ireland’s 2018 CXC special guests, and view our current exhibitions, ARTISTICALLY MAD: SEVEN DECADES OF SATIRE and KOYAMA AND FRIENDS: PUBLISHING, PATRONAGE, AND THE NEW ALTERNATIVE PRESS

The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum would also like to extend a special welcome to our special guests, LYNN JOHNSTON, DARRIN BELL, and ANNIE KOYAMA!
