OliveSoftware has been hard a work updating the interface, so we’ve update our guide to the Lantern Digital Archives!
Images that have been updated have text in black boxes instead of the original red.
To help you make the most of the new features (and find some of your old favorites) we’ve put together this blog to walk you through the new look. Click on any of the images to enlarge them.
Just like in the old Lantern Archives you can search and browse. One of the most important changes is that the new version doesn’t allow you to navigate between pages with your browser’s navigation, so don’t click the back button to get to a previous page. Use the menu at the top right to move between search results and articles.
If you just want to do a basic search, you can use the search box that appears at the top of the home page. If you click “Search” in the menu at the top right of the homepage, you’ll be taken to the page shown below with many more advanced search options.
The ability to browse was present in the old interface, but it’s much simpler and easier to use in this new version. One of the most fun parts is being able to flip through the paper as it would have appeared originally.
Once you’ve selected an article, either through searching or browsing, it will open in a window like this:
*OCR is optical character recognition. Read more.
This is another new feature. You can click the star in the upper left corner of an article window (see above) to add the article to your My Collection page.
As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Enjoy exploring the new interface!
