As part of University Libraries’ commitment to equipping students for lifelong success through educationally purposeful student employment, Libraries awards ten $1,000 scholarships annually to student employees in recognition of their exceptional work.
A two-year pilot program was approved in 2019. A third year of the pilot program was approved in 2021. The first awards were made in April 2020, and the second awards were made in April 2021. The program has now been fully operationalized. A report from the first two years of the program is available by contacting the working group at lib-scholarship@osu.edu.

Eligibility/Criteria
- Student must have completed at least one full semester of employment, not including the spring semester in which the application is submitted
- Must be eligible for employment in the upcoming fall semester based on academic standing and job performance
- Open to student employees of University Libraries (Student employees of regional campus libraries, Law Library or Health Sciences Library not eligible at this time)
Students, Supervisors, & Reviewers
Students will complete a Microsoft Forms survey, which includes submitting a narrative essay of up to 500 words answering one of the following questions. Essays will be evaluated for originality, creativity and enthusiasm as well as for clarity, grammar and spelling.

Frequently Asked Questions for Students
Supervisors will complete a Microsoft Forms survey which includes rating the student employee's performance in a number of competencies and writing a short statement about the student’s specific performance in a selected competency.
Frequently Asked Questions for Supervisors
Reviewers will complete a Microsoft Forms survey to rate the student essay and supervisor’s statement. Reviewers will be assigned 4-5 student files depending on volume of applications and will not be permitted to review applications or references from those in their reporting line.
