The University Libraries Affordable Educational Resources Initiative (AERI) supports Ohio State instructors to adopt, adapt, or create the most affordable, high-quality materials for their courses, as well as leveraging the affordances of open pedagogy and emerging educational technologies. We do this through instructor development programming and initiatives, instructor consultations, and the provision of CarmenBooks, the University’s inclusive access textbook program. We view educational resource affordability as a spectrum, including (but not limited to) the adoption materials freely available on the internet, open educational resources (OER), e-books licensed through University Libraries, and lower cost “traditional course materials."
