Western Languages Cataloging
From LibraryWiki
As coordinator of the Western languages section, Beverly McDonald supervises six staff members and one graduate assistant. Theresa Wei catalogs newly received books in English as well as Government Documents and non-OSU theses. Vera Enesey works with mostly German and Italian language monographs, but also catalogs materials in Dutch, Latin, Hungarian, Icelandic, and Scandinavian languages. Lisa Chiong catalogs French, Spanish and Portuguese language monographs. Vera and Lisa also work with materials that are issued as a series, but are cataloged individually as monographs, usually called “cat-as-monos.”
Jim Whitcomb is responsible for cataloging new electronic monographs and catalogs freely available electronic books per request. He also updates incomplete records for older materials and makes sure that holdings are added to WorldCat. He loads vendor-created bibliographic records for electronic books and miscellaneous other electronic resources into OSCAR. He also catalogs for the regional campuses.
Vickie Fitzgerald is responsible for copy and original cataloging of all materials in non-book formats. This includes video and sound recordings, computer files, microforms, maps and atlases, preservation replacement copies (paper and film), and occasionally streaming videos and online maps. She performs these same duties for OSU regional campus libraries.
Christina Moore is responsible for cataloging new analytics in both Western and Slavic languages. She also catalogs any materials that are in languages not covered by other staff members and works to resolve problems in the catalog, particularly those that involve analytics. She is also involved with special projects that require updating and replacing records for older and un-cataloged materials.
