Today's Freshman: Tech Savvy or Tech Oblivious?

Question: does owning an iPod indicate tech-savviness?

Although it may indicate a certain level of coolness (the hip kind), it does not necessarily mean you have a grasp on the history of computing. Or, for that matter, know that a regular floppy disk should not be inserted into a zip drive. Or that a flash drive can hold a vastly greater amount of data than a standard floppy. This list could go on.

Library staff in public service roles should keep this in mind when assisting incoming students to deliver the best possible service.
