Meet the Staff

Melanie McGurr is the coordinator for this section, supervising four staff members, one graduate assistant and two students.
Ed Plunkett catalogs library materials in Western languages, including PromptCat materials. He is also involved in quality control and in compiling monthly departmental statistics. In addition, he completes administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
Stephanie Gilchrist is a Catalog Management Specialist. She maintains the accuracy of OSCAR by adding, deleting and updating bibliographic and authority records. Stephanie performs problem-solving activities and fills special requests related to the system, performing original and complex copy cataloging of all materials. She also catalogs resources for the department and is a BIBCO participant and reviewer. Stephanie is also the department's official party planner.
Lin Zhang diagnoses and solves all cataloging problems reported by OSCAR and OhioLINK participant libraries, correcting errors in existing records in all languages. When needed, she performs both copy and original cataloging, and also maintains OSU library holdings as reported in WorldCat. On a weekly basis, Lin gathers bibliographic and item records that are marked for deletion.
Andrea Moore is the Authority Control and Catalog Management Specialist. She resolves problems identified in local system reports and reports sent by our authorities vendor. These include reports of heading changes, duplicate authority records, and blind references. Andrea also verifies the forms of personal and corporate names, series and uniform titles as well as subject entries against files of existing authority records. She both creates and updates national level authority records in accordance with NACO guidelines.
