Albert Franklin Robbins was born in Wadsworth, Ohio to George and Mary Robbins on September 29, 1895 and had an older sister, Elizabeth. During World War I, he served with Company A, 332nd Infantry Regiment, which was stationed in France and Italy and toward the end of the war was promoted to corporal. While overseas, he lamented the fact that he only heard from his family, or from a Miss Myrtle Davis whom he repeatedly asked to tell others to write him. He found it difficult to write to those who did not give him something to respond to. His thoughts concentrated on the future and he had hopes of marriage and children once the “big noise” was over. After the war, he worked at the Ohio Brass Co. as a special ware trimmer and lived with his parents in their home at 682 Paige Avenue W. On February 12, 1942, Robbins died of myocarditis and lung problems. He had no wife or children.

His letters are part of the Myrtle Davis Collection of World War I Letters, which also includes letters from Sergeant Charles Conrad.
